Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
My stepdaughter has 2 girls one is 5 and the other is 2, she has no job and is in a state of depression that she is putting herself in. I am searching for answers to what I can do if she leaves and want to take my grandaughters away to live god knows how and it cant be good because she cant take care of them properly. My wife and I have taken care of the oldest grandaughter off and on most of her life and she never wants to leave with her mom. Mom dont do a lot with the kids even cheerleading practices and the final performance, my wife and I have been very active in her life and still is today. As of this moment we have the mother and our grandkids with us and currently providing for all of them which I would never complain about and glad that they are here so that I can make sure they are getting what they need to be productive and have a descent life. She gets mad and tell my oldest grandaughter that I dont want them here with us which sends my grandaughter into a frizzy because she absolutely cherishes my wife and I. What can I do to prevent the my stepdaughter from dragging my grandbabies through a life of destruction? my wife and I have got my oldest grandbaby in school doing good and the mom was slepping when we had to register her for kindergarden, she smart and has a promising future but not if her mom takes her from an environment that she has now to a run down status. The father of my oldest grandaughter calls my wife and I and tell us dont let her take his daughter away because she is in the best place for her sake of growing and learning and someone that shows they care for her. I have taken her every Friday since she was born at the times we had her to do various activities such as, Chucky Cheese, McDonalds, Zoo and the movies to show her we love her very much. When she was back home in East St. Louis we went every year in January to see her and throw her a birthday party for the years we didnt have her. Last but least, last January we went to visit her and soon as my wife walks in the door to a house that look like a hurricane has been through my grandaughter hands her this letter from the school stating that if she missed another day of Pre K she would be kicked out and at that point I said pack her clothes she dont deserve this. Since then she has been here again with us and now I have all the family here with us and I am concerned because I have rules at my home and if she cant follow the rules set forth then she will have to go but that mean me loosing my hearts that I hear when I come in the door. PaPa I love you. Thanks and please offer me some advice.
