Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Stepfather adoption

My husband would like to legally adopt our daughter from my pevious marriage. We do not know where my ex-husband is nor have we had any contact with him in almost four years. Do we have to hire an attorny for my ex-husband, since we cannot locate him? What kind of complications can we expect?

Re: Stepfather adoption

You should not have to many problems. Depending on where you live you would have your attorney file the termination/adoption petition and the judge may order a social study/home study. The Court will also appoint an attorney for the father and he will try and find him. If he does he will probably tell him he is SOL so not much risk there.

If you are in Central Texas I would be happy to help.
