Doing your own stepparent adoption

My boyfriend has a child that lives 5 hrs away from him and the child does not want to come and visit she calls her step dad daddy and my bf is okay with that he and the mother have talked and the stepdad wants to adopt her and all that are involved are okay with it can they do their own papers and file with the county the child lives in. Also the mother is willing to let go of all past child support that is due. they all feel it is in the best interest of the child.

I always tell people if you know how to put the documents together (all of them), know how to get a hearing, know what to present to the judge, know how to get orders signed and all issues disposed of - why get a lawyer. That's all I know how to do.
