Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
stock options
I worked at a company that issued stock options before they went public. I received 3000 then got married and got 3000 more before leaving company. A year later I bought the 6000 shares for $20,000 on a credit card. They are now worth $180,000. Was wondering if wife gets 1/2 of all 6000 shares or just the 3000 I got after we were married. Thank you.

She does not automatically get anything it depend on the facts of the case. See a lawyer! She is entitled to a fair and just distribution.

Re: stock options
Are you serious? You have $180,000 in stock options at risk, and you haven't spent $150 in a lawyer's office to discuss how to protect them? Think.
