Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
stopping a parent's visitation for child
the father of my 2 yo child whom i was never married to wants to have full visitation. he has never been w her more than 24 hours during a visit. never had more than 4 or five visits per year. he's been mostly out of her life. I have full custody and am married. he is atheist, i'm christian. he doesn't believe in discipline, we do. he has attemted suicide. he is racist against whites, i'm married to a white man. he is petitioning for full visitation, while he never keeps the visits he usually makes. She hardly even knows him, and has no experience w children. how close can i come to keeping him from taking her for visits? and can I make him backpay child support since his previous payments weren't court ordered?

Re: stopping a parent's visitation for child
I recommend that you hire an attorney. The suicide attempts are important regarding RCW 26.09.191 limitations.
If he has visited at least 4 or 5 times a year, there is obviously some interest in the life of the child.
The fact that he is an athiest is almost completely irrelevant.
If he is a racist against others, this may be relevant.
What needs to happen is that you get orders from the court defining his role in the child's life. To get to this point, you would have to file the proper paperwork. A request for Family Court Services or a Guardian ad Litem being appointed to investigate would be a good thing.
