Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Can I sue my wife for alimony?

I just found out my wife is having an affair. I also found out that she's been planning it for a while. About 8 months ago, I gave up my career with the airlines to become a stay-at-home dad so that she would have all the time she needed to finish her nursing school and chase her career dreams. Now, I have nothing but the cooking and the cleaning. Since leaving the airline, the only thing I'm qualified to do is bag groceries at the store. We have three small boys, but since she makes all the money, she'll get custody. Is there any way I can get alimony from her if this ends in divorce? I'm already trying to forgive her. Please let me know. I don't want to be out on the streets.

Texas does not have alimony, we have spousal support. How long have you been married? Have you tried counseling?

I highly recommend that you consult with an experienced family law attorney immediately.

I highly recommend PATRICIA BUSHMAN at 713.807.9405. Pl. tell her that FRAN sent you.

Texas law is "neutral" regarding gender.

1. Only a JUDGE can make you leave the house. If she tells you to leave, you don't have to do so.

2. Don't assume that she will get custody.

3. Spousal support in Texas is written to be gender neutral.

Good luck!
