Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Why am I being sued for child support for a child I have custody of?

I obtained custody of my son in November 2002. He has lived with me since that time. I have filed the paperwork that was given to me to file along with a State Certified copy of the court order with the designated office for the State Attorney General. Since then I have faxed a copy of the same order because they claim not to have ever gotten the first copy. A month latter and now there is a court order to garnish my wages to pay for arrears that dont exist because I have custody of the child that I'm paying arrears for. Im am getting no where with phone calls. What are my options?

You need to hire an attorney to represent you and to be your advocate in dealing with the Texas AG's office.

As you have now learned, they carry a pretty powerful stick!

My office charges a deposit of $990 then weekly payments thereafter. If we don't spend all your money, we would refund the unused portion at the end of the case.

Good luck!
