Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

summer visitation of 16 year old daughter

We have a standard poss. order and my ex husband will have our 16yo daughter for 30 days during the summer. He only lives 5 minutes from me. My question is this: will i get to SEE my daughter during that 30 days? She does drive and has a job. We did have joint custody with no child support but that just changed to the standard possession order. i would like to be able to get along with him on this, but he is mad that he has to pay child support so he will probably insist, at least for now, on following the possession to the letter. will she be able to come over and see me while she is staying with her dad? Does she have to have his permission or can she just come over when she wants? thank you!

Re: summer visitation of 16 year old daughter

If you read over the order carefully, it should specify how you can exercise a period of possession during your ex-husband's extended summer possession.

Unfortunately, it is too late to exercise any period of possession this summer. Under the standard possession order, you would need to provide written notice by April 15th of your desire to have your daughter for one weekend during that extended summer possession.
