Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I need to know about supervised visitation with my child in Texas. The court order doesn't give either myself or his mother authority re: where supervised visitation must occur (the supervised visitation is standard because of the child's age, not because of any question about my character) .. I want to know what my rights are. I want my parents to be able to see their grandson, and at the moment she can say they are not welcome in her house, which makes sense ot me, but I need to know if I can insist that she bring the child to another place (park, shopping mall, etc, near her home) so that he may get to know his grandparents. This has not become an issue yet, but I suspect it will in the near future, and I want to know my rights if it does.

Generally there are facilties where supervised visitation takes place. On a visitation day the custodial pareent takes the kid to the facility, leaves, and the visiting parent comes. The visit occurs at the facility under supervision of facility personel, and after it ends, the visiting parent leaves and the custodial parent returns and takes the child home.
I suggest you have an attorney review your decree to answer your questions and determine whether a motion to modify is in order to spell out your rights. Your attorney could also advise you of your the child's grandparents' rights.
Sounds like your visitation is only supervised because the child is very young. The terms of the visitation depend on what the order actually says. You need to have it reviewed by a good family law attorney. I bet you didn't have an attorney at the time the order was entered. It almost always costs more to try to correct things after the fact than to have good representation up front. Good luck!
