if i'm supoenad into the middle of a child custody battle, can i plead the fifth, so there's no remorse between parents?

The "fifth" is to protect yourself from self-incriminating statements in a criminal case. What have you done that was criminal that you don't want to talk about? Better tell that to a lawyer.
