Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
support
i am obligated to pay child support and started out after the divorce as agreed without the attorney general being involved.after paying support for a few months as agreed i lost my business and lisence to practice (insurance) and have since been in trouble with the courts and probation etc. i have been unemployed for the last 5 years as a result of my background checks and have not been able to uphold my obligation,,only giving something when i can. i also just got out of a mandated rehab program and while there, i found out that the case had been referred to the state attn gen. office for collection..i sent a letter requesting a hearring but all i get is billings asking for payment.how can i get across that i would like a hearring in order to justify the past due balance and any payments that have been made???my ex has also forged titles on an auto, trailer, and many things have been sold that i was awarded by arbitration in the divorce..she also owes me more from a 401k than the balance due at this time, so is there any recourse that i can take and get things going again on the right path??please help !! thanks

Re: support
There are lawyers that work on payment plans, and you need to find one, as well as employment, regardless of how menial the employment is. The lawyer would request a modification of the support order, and enforcement of the divorce decree and arbitration award, which could then be applied towards the arrearage.
