Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Thank you for taking the time to look at my question, I am 24 and trying to get a copy of my adoption papers. I know I was adopted in another state but I'm not sure where. My adopted father always told me I never had a birth certificate, I do have my nationalization papers, I've given up on getting the originals but I would like to at least get a copy... I just don't know where to start... I would appreciate any advice you can share with me. Thank you.

I was adopted too so I have empathy for you.

There are many websites that might be able to help you. The internet has opened doors that did not exist 20 years ago. And laws are much more liberal than 20 years ago.

1. My own experience was sobering - and I was in my late 40's and a divorce attorney! Give up the fantasy that there is a a wonderful family at the end of the rainbow. My experience was a horror story. In fact, my own adopted sister decided not to pursue her opening up her adoption records after my horrible experience.

2. If your adopted parents or family will assist, it will help. Talk to your older relatives. They say that they can't remember but once they get to telling "stories" about the good old days, just listen and write down what they say. Often they know a lot more than they think they know. Just get them to tell you about when you were a baby.

If you want to talk more, I charge $2 per minute to talk.
