Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Teenage - Dating

I have a daughter that wants to date a 20 year old.

My daughter is 15 years old.

Stupid question:

I know he is considered an adult and she is considered a child.

My child does not believe me that it is wrong for them to date.

I believe it is wrong as well.

But she says I as a parent can approve it and it will be legal.

I have argued with her on this.

She wants factual information from law stating it is still illegal to allow a child to date an adult.

Please help clear this up for her.

Please help with information needed.

Thanks

It's obvious who runs your house -- a 15 year old!

You are the parent and you should be in control. Obviously, you are not.

As a minor child, she has NO RIGHTS.

However, you are responsible for her and her actions. If she commits certain crimes, YOU can be sued because you are responsible for her actions.

This might work to get rid of the guy. If he has sex with her, without or without her consent, since she is a minor he can be convicted of a crime and will be a REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER for the rest of his life.

She is what I refer to as "jail bait".

Have you considered boarding school far far away?

Good luck -- you need it! You have 3 more wonderful years to go!

It's not illegal to date - it's illegal for him to have sex with her, but that is his responsibility. Why not tell him - if he comes around, you'll whup his a**? That's not necessarily a legal solution.
