Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Tempory Guardianship
My daughter is in jail and has given me a notarized statement giving me temporary custody of her 15 year old son. Do I have to file this document with the courts for it to be legal

The notarized statement might work at the kid's school or doctor. Some places might refuse to recognize it.
Filing it at the courthouse is not enough.
You need to file for custody of the child and notify the child's mother and father of the lawsuit.
You might try to get by with a notarized statement but people are NOT required to accept it.
Technically you do NOT have temporary custody.
Only a court can grant you custody.
