Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

How to terminate the payment of child support

In my divorce papers pertaining to the child support, it states that "child support will be paid until further ordered by this court" My youngest will be 18 next year, do I need to go back to the same court to stop the payment of child support from my ex-husband, it is taken directley from his check, sent to the court house then sent to me in envelopes that I provide. I now live in another city so am not sure what to do. Thanks for any help

Re: How to terminate the payment of child support

Actually, the burden would be on your ex-husband to obtain an order of the Court to stop the child support. Usually, the order says "until the youngest child reaches the age of 18 or until further order of the Court." Either you or your ex can file a motion to modify with the Court and obtain an order to terminate the child support.
