terminating a power of attorney

my boyfriend was in car wreck and we thought he would not make it. he is on his way to recover and his parents will not release the "power of attorney" that they have for him. how does he go about doing so? he is 24 years old.

Depending on the type of PoA, all he has to do is draft a written revocation of the current PoA and provide that to everyone who is operating under the PoA.
