Re: Termination Adoption

You would need to do a stepparent adoption. If the biological father is still alive, you would need his consent. I have handled a number of such cases over my career. Contact me if you are interested in visiting more about your options.

Re: Termination Adoption

Based on what you have written, first you would need to address the biological father's parental rights, if thoes parental rights have not previously been terminated by a court. This addressing of the biological father's parental rights may be accomplished by obtaining his consent through a voluntary relinqunishment of parental rights. Once the biological father's parental rights have been terminated by a court, a petition for step-parent adoption would need to be filed with the court. Then you would need to prove the requirements to show the court that your husband would qualify to adopt your child and the adoption would be in your child's best interest. If my local family law firm can assist you with this or any other legal matter, please contact my paralegal Tina ([email protected]) to arrange for an initial consultation.
