Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Termination of Child Support

If child support orders read that support will continue till the age of 18, and that the child is in school becoming a high school graduate, but if child get GED--name removed--age 17. Does support have to continue till age 18 anyway?? Thanks

Re: Termination of Child Support

Without reading the divorce decree, I can't tell particularly from your description the status of the child. Most decrees read that child support will continue until the child reaches the age of 18 or until the child graduates from high school or otherwise emancipated. Sounds like the child has obtained a GED (good for him/her) but is under the age of 18 and not otherwise emancipated - so child support continues to age 18.
