Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

termination of parent rigths

I have a 3 year old son who i have raised since he was 2 weeks old. His mother has never been in his life. I recently found her online and she told me that she is willing to terminate her parental rigths. How should I go about doing this.

Whether you can terminate the baby momma's rights or not, you need to formally establish paternity of this child through a Court order!!! The last thing you need is for her to show up and claim the child. Feel free to call my office to set an appointment to discuss it. I do not charge for initial consultations.

If you don't know how to do these things and you don't want to spend time studying up, it's best to hire a lawyer. Gotta tell you though, just because she has not been around, doesn't mean her parental rights can be terminated. Most judges require another parent to be ready to step in and take the terminated parent's place (and rights). Just because you want to terminate her rights, doesn't mean a judge will do that. And he/she has the ultimate and complete say-so.
