Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Termination of Parental Rights

I have a pending custody/child support case. I am seeking to be informed on how to perminatly terminate my parental rights. I do not wish to have anything to do with the mother or the child as I beleive I was entrapped into the pregnancy. Also due to my health, mental and economic status, i feel it would be in the childs best interest not to have a relationship.

Re: Termination of Parental Rights

Probably not going to happen. If there is not another person (stepparent) willing to step into your shoes, then the courts do not want to allow you to avoid your child support obligations.

Although it might be in the child's best interest to not have a relationship with you, it is usually in the child's best interest to have another adult responsible for their financial needs.

If you want to pursue terminating your parental rights, get a lawyer, as this is not a simple procedure.
