Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Termination of Parental Rights
I have sole custody of my two half brothers. Our father is deceased and their mother has alot of problems. What is the legal determination for terminating the mothers parental rights from the children.I know one is non support of the children for at least a year, but once I file in the courts for the termination, can she send in money to the attorney general for child support and make my suit invalid? She is ordered to pay child support and has not for over a year and the orders states that she has no visitation. But she has not seen them or tried contacting them for almost 2 years.
Thanks

Re: Termination of Parental Rights
Retain an attorney -- you have a strong case to terminate her rights to the children. Sending in child support after the fact, will not void her prior behavior. If she becomes 'mom-of-the-year' during the proceedings it might affect the outcome.
