Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

In Texas, are attorneys required if a divorce is contested?

I have a son of my own. My wife & I have a daughter. We are divorcing. What is the percentage of child support I would have to pay? By the way, my wife makes considerably more money than I do.

What your wife makes is irrelevant. Child support is based on what YOU make. It's based on a percentage of your NET income as determined by the TX legislature.

No, technically no attorney is required. However, if you don't do it right and you regret it later, you are going to be STUCK with what you did. Then it might cost you 2-3 times more to try to hire an attorney to FIX what you messed up.

My plumber does not practice law. I don't try to fix my own plumbing.

My dentist does not practice law. I don't do my own dental work.

I suggest you hire someone that knows the law and do it right the first time.

Or you can try to do it yourself and then pay more later to fix your mess.
