Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Texas Child Support Payment
How do I calculate how much I pay in child support? I just heard about some law here in Texas that protests a person if they make more than $76,000 or some amount of money. For example, the calculation I heard was 20% of the first $76,000 dollars and then a lower percentage based on the higher income. I always thought is was 20% of net?

Re: Texas Child Support Payment
The Texas Family Code provides that the child support guidelines are presumtively applied to the first $6,000.00 of net income. Thereafter need must be shown. Child support for one child is 20% of the net according to the tax tables, including a credit of the costs of health insurance for the children is deducted from your income to arrive at the net.
