Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Texas Divorce Law

I am getting a divorce in Texas. My husband wants to invest money in renovating out house before we put it on the market, but he wants me to contribute half the money. I want think the house could use some renovation, but I've been making the payments on the house alone for many years and I've supported the both of us and I feel that he should fork out the money for repairs out of his own pocket. He wants to do this, but he is asking that when the house sells he deducts that money off the sold price and we split the rest of profit. If he fixes it with his own money, am I going to be obligated to let him take it out of the sold price? or can I just divide the sold price in two...regardless whose money fixed the house.

Have your lawyer review the details of your proposal, and make sure that it is an enforceable agreement before you open your wallet. Without knowing more details, I suspect there are simpler and safer ways to accomplish the sale of the residence.
