In Texas can a newlywed man take his wife's last name the same way a woman typically would her husbands?

There is no provision that allows for it, but at the same time I am not aware of a provision that expressly prohibits it. In any event, a man can petition the court for a name change, provided he is not attempting to avoid creditors or criminal charges. At a cost, of course. Appears to be a question of whether it is equal protection under the law, doesn't it?
