Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Texas-Can an eighteen year old child sue father for back support if mother signed father's waiver of rights for child? Child was two at time of divorce. Mother thought she had attorney (she paid him money) when in fact it was father's attorney. Judge let proceedings go on with mother not represented. Mother tried to get attorney in small town that they lived to take case against attorney. No one would take it. Mother did not know what else to do.

No. The right to receive child support belongs to the custodial parent, if child support is ordered. It does not belong to the child. Therefore, the child has no right to sue for support.
