Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Theft of daughters belongings by father

My 18 year old daughter moved out of my ex-husbands house (her father's house) about 3 weeks ago because of his unbearable behavior. She left with no money and only the clothes that she had on.

Since that time, he has changed the locks on the house and has refused to turn over her clothes, and other belongings to her. What can she do to recover them?

Thank you.

She can sue him in small claims court. Check your local telephone book for the closest location to her father's home.

However, I would recommend that instead of suing you first try a person in the clergy or a close family friend and see if you can resolve this matter in a friendly manner.

Best of luck to you all!
