Title: Joint Ownership of Property
If a couple have been married for 30 years and the husband wants out, is there anyway that they can keep joint ownership of their property? He has been the sole provider and neither wants to loose the property. They are looking to do this as amicably as possible.

I noticed that your zip code is for Houston, Texas. I agree with the first attorney, the basic answer is -- of course you can still own the property jointly.
Now the reality is that joint ownership is normally not a good idea. For example, 5 years from now one of you wants to take their 50% a go on a worldwide cruise. If the other party won't sell, you have a problem.
I would urge you to talk to an attorney.
If you have assets, it is worth a little bit of money to make sure you do everything properly.

Short answer: yes.
1. There can be a joint operating agreement,
2. the property can be placed in a trust or
business entity
3. the parties can manage the property or select
a third party to manage it.
All of which sounds great at the beginning. The reality is that once the divorce is final and the parties "get on with their lives" the ability to work together invariably diminishes. Trust erodes. Subsequent litigation is almost guaranteed.
