Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Tortuious interference in bus., defamation of character
I am currently going through a divorce after 14 yrs of marriage. My wife decided to send an e-mail at the request of her atty to 26 of her girlfriends inviting them to come to divorce court to support her. In the e-mail she talks about several episodes that were threatening & abusive. However, she fails to tell the complete story. My issue is that I have sold homes to apprx 60% of these recipients. My business is based on referrals & I count on past clients to give me future referrals. I am very concerned that my business has been severely impacted by my wife's bizarre e-mail. What can I do?
The second part of this divorce is the fact that we had a temporary orders hearing. My wife claimed she had been physically abused for the entire 14 yrs we were married. We have a nanny that has lived with us for 8 yrs & she testified in court that she had never seen any physical abuse! My major concern is that my wife is telling neighbors, friends, & teachers that she is getting divorced because of all the physical violence. I am the one who left & asked for a divorce. Furthermore, she has no evidence-no police reports & no doctor reports. She has a good job & has never moved out. Is this defamation of character & what should I do?

I assume you have an attorney representing you. If so, you need to talk to your attorney.
If you don't have your own legal counsel, I strongly urge you to retain legal counsel.
Good luck!
