Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Trial for uncontested divorce

My wife and I have no shared children, and wanted to do an uncontested divorce. We divided our property and debts. I filled out my divorce papers with an online service. My wife signed the forms so that she wouldn't have to go to court, and I mailed them to the country clerk. I just received a response from the court house with my court date. This is what it said:

To all counsel of record and/or pro se parties: This case is hereby set for trial or dismissal on July 27, 2009 at 9:00 A.M. Failure to appear will result in dismissal for want of prosecution.

I was under the impression that their is no trial for an uncontested divorce, is that the case? What do I need to show up with for my court date? I haven't contacted a lawyer, do I need one? What is the procedure going to be when I get there?

Re: Trial for uncontested divorce

Based on what you have written, you will have to provide the Court with the evidence and testimony required to prove up your decree for entry by the Court. You are not required to have a lawyer to do this hearing, but it may want to consider speaking with one to obtain a good grasp of how the procedures will work.
