i am triying to figure out what i have to do in order for me to get custody of my child. what exactly do i have to do?

If you are not married or divorced, you need to hire an attorney to file a Suit Affecting the Parent Child Relationship (SAPCR). You need to understand that the court will deal with visitation rights and child support. Usually, the court will name one parent the managing conservator and the other the possessory conservator. The possessory conservator does not see the child as often and must pay child support to the managing conservator.
