Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Unable to contact children

My ex-wife and I were divorced a few years ago and even though we were awarded joint custody she has done numerous things off and on to keep me from communicating with the children. Recently she has had her home number changed and is unlisted so I am not able to talk with my children. We do not communicate even for the kids sake. (These are her wishes). My question is, does she have that right to keep her phone number private so I am not allowed to talk with my children? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Re: Unable to contact children

Your Final Decree of Divorce controls. If it states that she does not have to give you her home phone number then she is of. It is is silent regarding the phone numbers, then she might be in contempt of court.

You would need to file a document regarding contempt and have her served. The court would schedule a hearing on the contempt action. The Judge would then rule if she was in contempt of court or not.

In order to assist you, any attorney would need a certified copy of your Final Decree of Divorce (or the last document the Judge signed).

Good luck!
