Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

To further understand my question, here is a short description of what is happening.

My childs father abandoned him at 4 months old. He arrived out of no where asking to be in my sons life as of February 2015. I immediately requested child support from the attorney general, we have a hearing in September 2015. I send him weekly pictures and updates and we are getting along through text message. He says he will do whatever it takes and whatever i want to be apart of our sons life. So neither of us have hired a lawyer.

My question:

Will the attorney General set child support AND visitation since we have no prior agreement?

Also,

If i let him meet our son and start supervised visits every 2 weeks, will it affect my chances of getting that in court ?

Thanks, Destiny.

The attorney general will set child support and visitation. That's an oversimplification of the actual legal process, buy, yes, that will be the end result.

Starting visits now under non-standard provisions, eg supervised, will give you a strong argument in court that such an arrangement has already been agreed by the parents and therefore should continue for some time.

You probably cannot get anything but a standard possession order unless you go to court. Even if the two of you agree, it's nearly impossible to get the AG to deviate from their forms if you're just trying to work this out in the AG's office.
