Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Unknown child appears after 8 years

A friend has been told that after eight years a pregnancy he believed to have been aborted was not. Indeed, he has an eight year old daughter he has been deprived of having any knowledge of or contact with. The mother has now only decided to contact him due to a need for his medical history since the child has an unfortunate medical condition. My question is, would the courts award retroactive child support to the mother in a case like this and what necessary legal steps should he pursue other than dna testing to guarantee and safeguard his rights from here on out? Also, is there any recourse for the mother's actions on keeping this information from him?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Unknown child appears after 8 years

The presumption is for four years of retroactive child support. An argument can be made depending upon the evidence of the "abortion" for less retroactive child support.

The first step is to request the DNA testing.
