Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Unmarried parents

The father of my two youngest and I were never married. I moved to Texas the end of June 2006. I know that I need to live in Texas for 6 months in order to file here. Their dad has just now started asking for visitation. He has not been paying any type of support. Am I obligated to let him see them? What if he takes them out of state with him? I have only been in Texas for 3 months so I am not sure what to do at this point. I am not trying to keep them from him, but I don't want him to take them. He is also an avid Marijuana user which is one reason I left. What should I do?

Re: Unmarried parents

The risk you are running at this time is that you X will file against you in the former state and you will have to return there to resolve this matter. Your case has some complexities and sometimes the 6 months requirement can be waived. You need to see a lawyer if this issue is important to you.
