Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Visitation Interference
My child's mother interfers with visitation on a regular basis. The child is 12 and has been told she doesn't have to see me anymore (or it's her choice if she comes), and the mother schedules vacations, events, etc. on my scheduled weekends. The mother has also interferred with my summer visitation. I live over 200 miles from them and I drive on the 1st, 3rd and 5th weekends of every month -- both ways. I want to see my child, and am doing everything I know to do to keep myself and my family a constant presence in my child's life. I do not currently have an atty. Should I document the times the mother interfers and once I have a number of them file contempt charges? Does the court really look seriously at this interference or is the court more concerned with the fact that I pay child support on time? I just want my kid taken out of the games and have a firm legal foundation to stand on. Is my current order any good even thought my child is 12 now?

Re: Visitation Interference
Courts take visitation exactly as seriously as child support, it is just that child support is easier to prove. Yes, you will need a lawyer. You may e-mail me at [email protected] or look at the website http://www.reasonable-doubt.com and download a questionnaire from the family law page.
