Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Visitation / Paternity

If I was never married to my childs father, went through the Attorney General for Child Support. Mediation was scheduled dad did not show. Completed the paper work judge did not sign off due to AOP not on file. Court set to establish paternity. The father has been picking him up from school when I say no and trying to keep him more than of the week to get out of paying child support. What is the best thing to do? Child is 11 and father did sign the birth certificate. I have not received any money from him since August of last year.

Re: Visitation / Paternity

Go get a court order to stop him from picking up the child. Get a court order to make him pay the arrears. Do it now, before he takes the child someplace else.

Get your own attorney. Try to find one that regularly practices in the IV-D courts. Remember, the Attorney General does not represent you. It represents the State of Texas.
