Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Visitation after 10 yrs with 13 yr old daughter

After 9 years of not seeing my daughter (not my choice), my daughter wrote to me Feb. 2001 about wanting to see me (her Dad). Her mother agreed to it. Then in an email her mother said she could not come. In April I hired an atty to move the case to the county where they reside. As of 1/21/02 still no court date. My daughter will be 14 in March 2002. At what age would she be on her own to make this decision and am I wasting the money on an atty. In an email received earlier in January she has threatened suicide if not allowed to see her (other) family. I sent that email to the atty but he said he didn't know what to make of it. Desperate!

Twelve years old to choose in Texas. However, this choice is still subject to the best interest of the child test. If you are un-happy with your attorney fire them. E-mail me if you need any further assistance.
