Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

voluntary termination of parental rights

Can my husband give up his paternal rights to his child and what process do we have to take to do this? We can't afford a lawyer or even the filing fees. What should we do?

Re: voluntary termination of parental rights

You really need to meet with an attorney to discuss the exact details of your situation.

Generally speaking, no Judge is Texas is going to allow a man to "terminate his parental rights" and avoid paying child support unless there is a new "father" in the wings.

I have men in prison and I can't get their parental rights terminated!!

It is not easy to do. However, I never say never!

Good luck!
