Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Wage Garnishments in Common Law Divorce in Texas

I've been reading up on this topic because I'm currently going through a Common Law Divorce in Texas. I know that the state of Texas can grant spouse support but this will not apply to me. My question is can my wages be garnished related to rent on an apartment, utilities, and/or credit debt or will it just be reported to a credit bureau and reported on my rental history? I do not have children with my ex or anything other than what was mentioned within the question above. Thank you for any help on this issue in advance!

Re: Wage Garnishments in Common Law Divorce in Texas

There are very few situations in Texas where wages can be garnished. You really ought to check around in your area and find a good family law attorney with reasonable rates. Just reading up on the topic isn't going to give you the knowledge or experience you need. Good luck.
