Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Waiver of Citation Question

My soon to be ex husband is filing for divorce and using the law library in Dallas. He has printed out the paperwork for our divorce and everthing seems ok except for the waiver of citation. One number states ''I agree that the petition may be amended and that the cause may be taken up and considered by the court without further notice to me.'' This statement sounds funny to me and I don't know if I should sign the waiver with that in there. There is also another number that states ''I hereby agree and consent to the entry of a decree in this case'' that other people are telling me sounds fishy too. Are these statements ok for me to sign off on, or am I getting screwed. I just want to hurry and get the final paperwork so this can be done. What happens after a waiver of citation? How long will it take to get the final paperwork after I sign the waiver, if I decide to sign it? What happens if I don't sign it?

Re: Waiver of Citation Question

There are many versions of a Waiver of Service.

Your husband selected one that favors him.

You can go to the Harris County law library and research the different Waivers of Service and create one that you like.

If you would like help you I would charge you approx. $175/hour.

Good luck!
