Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I wanted to know what is the position of a court in Texas if the parents are to split medical and mental health bills 50/50. I have been taking my teenage daughter to therapy because of some behavioral issues at school. I took her to see a psychologist and she was diagnosed with ADHD. The same psychologist referred her to both a psychiatrist (for medications) and weekly therapy to help her with her ADHD and behavior. The mother refuses to medicate her and she also refuses to take her to therapy. As the NCP, I have been taking her to therapy on my time (we have equal rights). I always notify her and invite her to join. I also send her the bills via certified and first class mail (duplicates). Well, the mother replies with this is your choice, this is your bill. Since the bills are starting to add up, what would my chances be of taking her to court for some relief? Keep in mind, I always pay her child support and other bills on time. Can she chose not to pay the therapy bills? I was under the impression that if it is for the best interest of the child, then just do it.

You need to check the decree. Most provide that if a bill is not covered by insurance that it is allocated between the parties. If yours has such a provision and you are complying with it's provisions, then you can file a motion to enforce which will require her to pay her share of the bills.
