Richard Alerman also has his own website and you might look there. He is a professor at University of Houston. You might find him on the internet under University of Houston or the People's Lawyer - I'm not sure of his exact website.

I believe that if it was a gift to you when you married, that the ring belongs to you even after you divorce.

However, since it belonged to his step-great grandmother, you might consider returning it in exchange for something (cash, car, etc.).

Often there is a difference in what's legally right and what is morally right.
