My ex wife denied me visitation on my daughters birthday and made me take her instead another day. Is she in contempt of court?

If she is in contempt, then it has to be petitioned and proven to a judge first. If you have evidence of the your effort, and her denial; then it is probable that the court will find she violated the order. At the same time, the process to accomplish that is intensive, and could be expensive. Generally speaking, a single incident is not sufficient for a strong reaction from the court. If there develops a pattern, then it is cause for a contempt proceedings, and possibly even a modification.
