Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My wife and I are going through a divorce. Shes telling me that I need to pay all the credit card bills in my name and she pay all the ones in her name. Theres way more in my name then hers and I cant pay all of them. Is there a way I can get her to pay some of those too or am I stuck because theyre in my name? Thank you very much.

If you don't have an attorney, you definately need to hire one!

The problem is going to be...a court cannot interfere with a contract with a third party. In this case, you signed that you would be liable for all charges on your credit card to the credit card company.

So the judge can order her to pay but if she does not then the credit card company will look to you for payment.

If you are liable for the debt, then you need to get more assets (furniture, etc.) to sell to pay the debt.

I hope this helps!
