Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My ex wife and I have already been through divorce and have a 11 year old daughter. She is not biologically mine, I did sign birthcertificate though. I havent been a part of her life much and my ex wife wants me to terminate my rights, I was thinking about it as I am not in her life hardly and all due to her mother making things very difficult and what not. I have visitation right to her but i live in a diffrent state. She and I talked and we agree that it would be best for me to terminate my rights and have a paternity test done. she does know who the father of her daughter is but hasnt asked him for child support, I pay for her. What are my chances that I can have my rights terminated?

I assume that the divorce decree states that you ARE the child's father.

Yes, you can terminate your rights; it isn't difficult. Find a good family lawyer in your area, and direct him to section 161.005 of the Texas Family Code.
