Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

While I was with my wife she forged my signature on renting a house with permission of the property manager and signed my name in front of her. I was at work while this happed and she already gave the property manager the money when she signed and my hand was forced to move into the new house.

It has now been 3 months since this has happened and we have split up and I moved out. Now that I'm going through a divorce and she keeps telling me that I am responsible for 1/2 the rent until the divorce is finalized.

I told her that I would help her get by for one more month then all I will give her is child support after that.

What are my options and what can I probably expect during the divorce?

You should have a lawyer calculate what your child support will be, and start sending that to her every month, without fail.

Don't pay her rent, or any part of it. Arguably, since you moved into the apartment after the forgery, you "ratified" the fake lease. But don't worry about that; that's between you and the crooked landlord.

During the divorce, she may ask for temporary child support (which she will get) and temporary spousal support (which she won't get).
