Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My wife is 38 and on her 3rd marriage; We have been married 1 year and 3 months; We have a 6 month old baby; She was investigated by Child Protect. Svcs after the hospital called them because of her screaming behavior but she was cleared after 3 months- mainly because she has a strong. 62 yr old mom who is a big help to my wife; My wife filed for divorce against me 8 months ago and now alleges adultery, computer fraud & eavesdropping & assault-(ALL LIES);

She called the police 7 times in last month and a half but they never arrest me; They wrote her up for 2nd degree assault when she attacked me after trying to take all my work materials and drive away. THe police family unit wants me to file for a mental health warrant based on her bad behavior towards me and tearing up our house; My media sales job is also in jeopardy due to declining sales & income. All the attorneys I talk to say I can win a child custody battle if I pay them Big $- $12,000 to $15,000. But sInce my wife's mom & my wife have the baby for the past 2 months 50 miles away won't the courts give them my baby since her mom is a good stable caregiver?? I can't afford to throw away this $ on a custody battle I can't win since her mom is a good caregiver; My attorneys say we have a strong case but won't give statistics or which male has won a custody battle in this county or that they represented; Please tell me if I am just wasting my time and throwing big $ away; Won't the courts give my baby to them because of the good grandma's active involvement in raising our son?? Thank you and God Bless!

Your post confuses me. At first you show concern about the cost quoted by various attorneys, but then comment that you have attorneys. If you are represented by counsel, trust them to represent your best interests. If you have doubts, discuss those doubts with the lawyers; and if you are not satisfied with the responses, retain new counsel. Clearly you care about the welfare of your child, so you are not throwing money away. You have recognized that a custody battle is not DIY, and there isn't a pricetag on your child. Grandma is certainly a factor, but not necessarily a controlling one.
