Will the court send me to jail for contempt for failure to pay child support even if I have been unemployed the entire time I have missed payments?

They can. Going to jail is not the most likely outcome on your first time before the judge, but it is possible. The judge will not believe you if you say you had no ability to make even $1 in payments each month. Make sure you don't have a cell phone, a car/truck payment, any cigarettes, etc. when you go to court. Any of those expenses are supposed to come AFTER you make your full child support payment.

Good luck!!
