You will be representing yourself. You will be acting as your own attorney. You will be able to make objections, call witnesses, etc.

FYI: You must do what the judge says or you will be held in contempt of court. That means that the bailiff will put you in handcuffs and place you in the Harris County jail since contempt is a criminal matter for not follow the judge's orders.

If possible, go to court BEFORE your courtdate and observe other cases.

You can also go to the Harris County law library downtown (in the Jury Assembly Bldg.) and read books there.

There are rules called "local rules" in the all the family courts that each of the Family Court judges follow. I suggest that you get a copy and read them. I think they are on the internet. Look under the Harris County District Court, Loren Jackson's website or under the Harris County Family Court's websites. Many of the Family Court judges have their own websites.

Good luck!
